Not every betrayal is physical. Emotional infidelity — an intimate connection with someone outside the relationship, built on secrecy and emotional closeness rather than a physical act — can wound just as deeply, sometimes more.
The clearest sign is secrecy: conversations kept hidden, a relationship your partner wouldn't want you to know the depth of. If someone is sharing feelings, frustrations, or private details with someone else that they no longer share with you, that's worth noticing and naming.
Emotional intimacy belongs to the relationship.
If you notice this happening — in yourself or your partner — an honest conversation, sooner rather than later, gives the relationship its best chance. Left unspoken, emotional distance tends to grow, not shrink.
